David Grant is a consultant on the Pediatric intensive care unit at the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children (UK) with a real heart for simulation. He graduated from the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa before training in Paediatrics and Paediatric Intensive Care in South Africa, UK and Australia. He developed one of international leading Paediatric Simulation Programs where cardiac surgical teams are trained by simulating cardiopulmonary bypass. Grant is the former president the International Paediatric Simulation Society and the Society in Europe for Simulation Applied to Medicine (SESAM). He advocates multi-disciplinary simulation-based education through application in four strategic pillars: Education, Quality Improvement, Clinical Governance and Research to improve patient safety and quality of healthcare.
