The DSSH Lustrum Congress of the DSSH, the largest European National Society or Simulation in Healthcare, will take place on the 20th of March 2013 at the Academic Medical Center in the beautiful city of Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

This year the Congress is themed: "Medical Simulation, What's Next!" 

Latest developments in Simulation and Serious Gaming for training health care professionals are featured. The language of the Congress is Dutch, but many presenters will present in English. All presenters will support their presentation using English slides to accommodate our visiting non-Dutch language audience. Many exciting keynotes, presentations and interactive workshops are programmed; and visitors are welcomed at the large Exhibition and Sponsorship area at the central square of the Academic Medical Center. During the Congress, a separate 'Pop-Up' innovation center will be staged, to support promising start-ups and non-commercial initiatives. Also, a matchmaking / speeddating event 'Go see the Designer' is hosted by the Dutch Game Garden and DSSH, for medical professionals to interact one-on-one with renowned health game designers. 

Combine education, simulation and/or business with pleasure and visit Amsterdam this spring!

Walter Eppich, MD, MEd, received his medical degree from Heidelberg University Faculty of Medicine in Germany in 1999. He completed his pediatric residency at Duke University Medical Center and Oxford University-John Radcliffe Hospital, and a pediatric emergency medicine fellowship at Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital. In 2007, he completed a Master in Education degree with a focus on curriculum and instruction. He currently practices clinically as an attending physician in the pediatric emergency department at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago.

Walter is Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and Medical Education at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, where he was an inaugural member of the Feinberg Academy of Medical Educators.. His particular academic areas of interest are debriefing, pediatric team training and faculty development and he is Director of Faculty Development at Northwestern’s Center for Education in Medicine. Walter has delivered workshops, invited lectures and led faculty development courses on feedback, debriefing and other topics at Northwestern and many national and international conferences. He has served as invited faculty on basic and advanced simulation instructor courses nationally within the United States, and internationally in Europe, Australia and Hong Kong as a partner of EuSim, PAEDSIM and the Center for Medical Simulation (Boston/USA).

Walter has been a co-investigator on several simulation-related grants. These projects include: (a) the development and evaluation of a simulation-based curriculum in pediatric emergency medicine; (b) the development and evaluation of a scripted debriefing as part of the EXPRESS pediatric research collaborative; (c) the assessment of debriefing quality; and (d) risk-informed in situ simulations for pediatric emergency transfers.

Walter is active in the international simulation community. He has served as Co-Chair of the 2010 International Meeting on Simulation in Healthcare (IMSH) and is currently a member of the Board of Directors for the Society for Simulation in Healthcare. Walter will give a exciting presentation on the issue that everybody talks about the curriculum, but nobody talks about those who actually use it to teach… Join Walter in the discussion following his keynote presentation on Faculty Development and Faculty Maintenance.

De sluitingsdatum voor de Call for Content was 1 januari 2013.  U kunt niet meer insturen. De voertaal van het congres is Nederlands, maar in verband met de grootte van het congres en de te verwachten buitenlandse gasten zullen sprekers verzocht worden de slides in het Engels aan te leveren.

Ook wordt er een 'pop-up' innovatie centrum ingericht om beginnende, niet-commerciële start-ups en iniatieven een podium te bieden.
