Important, especially when referring to the recent Convenant ‘Veilige toepassing van medische technologie in het ziekenhuis’ (‘Safe use of medical technology in the Hospital’) as presented to our Minister. In this document, it is stated that technology used in hospitals and health care facilites must be safe, and patient safety in these environments must be assured in every possible way.

In her reaction, The Dutch Minister of Health states that it needs to be explored, how patient safety and skills-demands for users of health care technologies and innovations can be secured. Health care professionals must show to be competent, before they may actually engage in activities that may be harmful to patients. She stresses the need for tailored educational scenarios on skillsdevelopment for use of medical innovations and -environments.
